Abstract

Infusing geriatric-specific communication content into the nursing curriculum is essential to prepare student nurses for the workforce. This study explored the impact of the life review assignment, a write-up of interview with an older adult aged >65. The assignment helped students reconnected with elderly family members, focused on patient-centered care, developed nurse-patient relationship, experienced difficult conversations, and increased awareness of nonjudgmental care. Students learned effective communication through reflection and storytelling from the life review interview.
