Abstract

Evaluation strategies of Geriatric Education Centers (GECs) are often over-shadowed by their educational programs. Each GEC is required by federal guidelines to have in place an evaluation protocol, although no single model is required. Consequently, the evaluation protocols are as varied as the GECs. These protocols typically serve several functions. They provide the GEC staff with programmatic information, meet the federal reporting requirements and assist with program management. Federal requirements, various evaluation models being used, the type of data those models yield and evaluation issues relevant to GEC program development and implementation are discussed.
