Abstract

Various types of geriatric assessment teams and environments for these programs are described. Included are the components of a comprehensive geriatric assessment: physical, psychological, socioeconomic, and functional. This is a comprehensive view of the diversified manner in which an effective geriatric assessment team may be structured. The need for follow-through on the teams' recommendations is emphasized. The ability of professionals in any setting to identify the need for a comprehensive geriatric assessment is vital.
