Abstract
A tentative description of the structure of the Arctic Ocean floor is presented, in terms of recent data from Soviet sources and of certain representative Soviet theories of Arctic tectonics. Two theories of the Great Arctic Magnetic Anomaly are compared: the anomaly may be related either to an interplatform geosynclinal corridor extending across the Arctic Ocean floor, or to ancient centers of crustal consolidation in the Canadian and Central Siberian Platforms.
