Abstract
Abstract When Geophysics Division was formed in 1951, two report series were instituted. Geophysics Division Reports contained material, the formal publication of which was likely to be delayed. Geophysics Division Technical Notes contained material not suitable for formal publication. Both series had limited distribution, chiefly within the libraries of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. In 1968 the policy was changed to allow a wider distribution of both Reports and Technical Notes. Virtually all substantial field investigations carried out by the Division, particularly its Geophysical Survey, are produced as Reports. The material in these may be published in modified form elsewhere. The Technical Notes contain details of instruments, survey techniques, or derived data such as earth-tide tables which in general will not be formally published.
