AbstractReasons for geophagy (soil consumption) by herbivorous animals have long been debated. We provide direct evidence of artificial sodium (Na) enrichment driving geophagy by capybaras (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris), a large herbivore in western Amazonia.Abstract in Spanish is available with online material.
