Abstract

A review of the geomorphological history of the Saliar Mountains reveals that post-Jurassic erosion of the upland was negligible. Consequently it is very probable that bauxite deposits (in limestone sinkholes) and refractory clay deposits.have not been removed from the uplifted peneplain back of the intensly eroded escarpment which descends to the Kuznetsk Basin. The search for these minerals, therefore, should be concentrated on the uplifted peneplain. M. E.Burgunker
