Event Abstract Back to Event Geometry of multiclass Fisher's linear discriminant analysis via communication theory Jun Fujiki1* 1 Fukuoka University, Applied Mathematics, Faculty of Science, Japan This paper provides a geometrical aspect of Fisher's linear discriminant analysis (FLDA) for a multiclass case. FLDA has been widely used due to its simple formulation and low computational costs. Recently, a new framework of pattern recognition based on a communication of class information is proposed. This model is quite different from a commonly used framework of pattern recognition as a mapping from the set of patterns to the set of classes. In the new framework, patterns are regarded as class information with redundant encoding. Then it has been shown that two-class FLDA can be described as communication theory of noisy channel. In this paper, we extend the two-class FLDA as communication theory to the multiclass FLDA case.
