Abstract

For the materialization of a specific geometry that conforms a resistant structure, different parameters that constitute a whole are related in a dependent way, such as: the characteristics of the bamboo species and the cut of the cane, the geometry that defines the woven, the interlacing knot and its degree of friction, as well as the geometry itself and its generatrices. The cut of the bamboo cane defines the resistance of the strip obtained and is intrinsically linked to the possible patterns of interlacing. By means of the analytical study of the admissible deflection and curvature of different cuts of the bamboo cane and of the overlapping of cuts, the influence of the geometric section of the cut on its behavior could be observed. This article is an analytical study that enunciates the most relevant parameters, the interrelation of two or three of them, allowing to clarify and quantify the possibilities for the constitution of frameworks with bamboo fibers with potential to be used in architecture.
