Abstract

Abstract Designers, production workers and metrologists are confronted with a complex set of over 100 standards in the field of the Geometrical Product Specifications (GPS). Especially in the last 10 years, the number of GPS standards has almost tripled. Regarding this strong increase, the objective of this paper is the consideration of the development in teaching GPS. How can students, apprentices, teachers and already trained personnel be prepared for the application of the GPS standards? Therefore, approaches – identified by an international literature search – and an analysis of methods for knowledge transfer are presented. Based on given teaching methods new ideas for teaching GPS standards will be shown.
