Abstract

The performance of magnetic sensors is typically affected by the magnetic interaction between the surrounding components, including the magnetic dipole effect and exchange coupling. Recently, extensive studies have been carried out on the dipole interaction of filamentary samples, and the theoretical results showed good consistence with the experimental observations. However, no precise expression for the geometric factor of the magnetic dipole interaction for strip samples has been revealed. In this paper we have provided an expression for the geometric factor of the magnetic dipole interaction. The expressions of the geometric factor for strip samples are derived by means of the integration method, following the previous studies for microwires. The geometric factor of FINEMET samples was experimentally determined by calculating the magnetic field intensity and the magnetic moment at the saturation point of the hysteresis loops, which agrees well with the theoretical results. The results will provide valuable insights into the design process of magnetic sensor materials.
