Abstract
In this paper, an easy Monte Carlo code is described to calculate the geometric and the effective solid angles for isotropic and non-isotropic photon emission as well as the intrinsic efficiencies of cylindrical detectors. Values of the above quantities were obtained for various photon energies, geometries and a 3 × 3 in. NaI(Tl) detector. Point and spherical aqueous sources were considered.
