Abstract
A thorough summary is made of the types of uranium and thorium occurrences and their regional distribution throughout the world. The relative abundance and difficulty of recovery of the two elements in their various forms are discussed. The Witwatersrand gold mines of South Africa are indicated as the most economical source of industrial uranium for the immediate future.
