Abstract

The deposit occurs in schists and cordierite gneisses in the lower part of a sequence containing abundant marbles, probably Triassic. The ore body is saddle-shaped, with contacts that are largely concordant. It is located in an anticlinal nose, and is structurally controlled. The mode of occurrence of the ore indicates that at least part of the host rock had a dolomitic composition. Deposition of magnetite was favored by interactions between Fe-rich mineralizing solutions and the magnesium of the host and country rock.
