Abstract

Block P Mine, Hughesville, Montana, is located in a syenite porphyry plug--one of the many injections that have intruded the sediments of the Little Belt Mountains. Shear and tensional fractures are found within the mine. These fractures have been mineralized and were followed by dikes.Hydrothermal mineralization has deposited mainly galena, sphalerite, and pyrite. Most of the silver is associated with copper-bearing minerals, tetrahedrite being the chief silver-bearing mineral.
