Abstract

The Shan-Gan-Ning Basin is a craton marginal basin in China. The giant gas field in central Shan-Gan-Ning Basin discovered by Changqing Petroleum Exploration Burean of China National Petroleum Corporation in 1989 ranks 83th among the world's largest gas fields. This paper focuses on the discussions of regional structural baskground, geological characteristics, geological theoretical model and reservoir formation of the Central Gas Field in Shan-Gan-Ning Basin and concludes that the dual and mixed source gas, hinge zone of the paleo-structure evolution, central paleo-uplift with north Shanxi paleo-depression opposite direction development, the coordinated relations of up-dip rock salt-gypsum with down-dip dolomite flat facies in regional slope, the existence of Ordovician top paleo-burried platform subtle trap at Caledonian stage and the development of weathering crust dissolved pores communication body are the main geological factors of Central Gas Field formation. The concepts has important values for the study of craton marginal petroliferous basins and giant paleotopography oil and gas fields exploration.
