Abstract

The composition and properties of oil from the Apt-Cenomanian deposit of the Russian gas and oil field of the West Siberian basin have been studied. It is shown that the composition and properties of oil may indicate their mixed genesis. The molecular composition of the oil suggests that the oil has undergone secondary biodegradation processes, which is in good agreement with the geological history of this part of the basin. A scenario for the formation of the Apt-Cenomanian oil deposit of the Russkoye field is proposed.
