Abstract

Two polymorphic loci were detected in a survey for electrophoretically detectable protein variation carried out using the eye, muscle and hepatopancreas from the western king prawn, P. latisulcatus. The distribution of gene and genotype frequencies in sample sets from Investigator Strait and the Gulf of St Vincent were determined. No evidence of genetic isolation of the two stocks was obtained but the presence of two allopatric subpopulations, perhaps separated by time of breeding, seems possible.
