Abstract

The territorial structure of tourist accommodation facilities in Tver oblast, which is a large intercapital region in central Russia, is demonstrated. In respect of tourism and recreation, this oblast is developed extremely irregularly. The tourism and recreational activities are mainly based on water and forest resources. In the regional network of accommodation facilities for tourists, seasonal tourist centers prevail, as well as recreational camps and hostels, which are also mainly of the middle and economy classes: it is an indicator characterizing the primary development of the base of health improvement, active and cultural-cognitive tourism. Numerous hunting and fishing houses distinguish Tver oblast in the interregional tourism market by means of good opportunities for the development of commercial tourism. Accommodation facilities in the Tver region are mainly oriented towards residents of the capital. Business tourism is the most perspective direction of tourism development in Tver and suburban (sub-Moscow) districts. On the basis of a catalogue of the tourism infrastructure comprised and regularly updated by the author, the variety, specialization, and infrastructural provision of tourism-recreation activity in each district of the oblast is defined. Five variants (types) of infrastructural provision of tourism in Tver oblast are revealed.
