Geographical Analysis of Indicators of Tourism Movement and its Obstacles in Sulaymaniyah Governorate during the period 2019-2013

Abstract

The main objective of the research entitled (Geographical Analysis of Indicators of Tourism Movement and its Obstacles in Sulaymaniyah Governorate) is to show and analyze the tourism movement and its indicators of Sulaymaniyah Governorate, with highlighting the most problems and obstacles that facing tourists. In order to achieve this objective, the research adopts descriptive-analytical and applied methods, by studying the available data for the period (2019-2013), and was based on the primary data is collected from 525 a questionnaire and discussion with tables and figures. Furthermore, the research reached a set of conclusions, including that the number of tourists continuously increased as a result of political, financial and economic stability, but in another way, there are clear positive changes happened in the indicators of tourism movement, tourism services and tourism facilities, for example in (2013) the number of tourists increased by (%18.82), while in the years (2015-2014), the number of tourists began to decline by (%5- 25.02-) and (%56.07) respectively, as a result of the ISIS terrorist attacks and financial crisis. To sum up, a set of necessary recommendations to solve the problems and improve the tourism movement in Governorate, which leads to an increase in the number of tourists as well as achieving development of the tourism sector in the study area.
