Abstract

The research aims to know the changes that occurred in the electric power system in Iraq between the years (2000-2020), whether in the structure of design capabilities, changes in the production structure or at the level of change in the type of stations, as well as the spatial changes to localize these stations. Electricity in Iraq has been affected by environmental as well as political changes, if Iraq turned to British and Swiss companies during the monarchy, and from it turned to Eastern European countries after the July 1985 revolution, and from them shifted towards Japanese companies during the eighties and after 2003, Iraq turned towards a mixture of companies, including American, French and Indian And the Chinese, Korean, and others, which was reflected in a significant change in the design capabilities, especially in the gas stations amounting to (13652) MW during the year 2020, as it established (22) gas stations with generating capacities amounting to (11788) MW, and the design capabilities of the hydroelectric stations remained for more than forty years.
