Abstract

The International Symposium on Geodynamics in the Southwest Pacific was held from August 27 to September 2, 1976, at the Office de la Recherche Scientifique et Technique Outre‐Mer (ORSTOM), Noumea, New Caledonia. Held under the auspices of the Inter‐Union Commission on Geodynamics and cosponsored by ORSTOM, the Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières, and the Institut Français du Pétrole, the symposium included 3 days of scientific sessions, consisting of 45 papers and 4 panel discussions, and 2 field trips, one to central New Caledonia and the other to explore the southern ultramafics.
