Abstract
This work is a review of the investigations that have been in progress for about ten years which concentrate on the study of the distribution of pollutant metals in the Venice Lagoon system, using PIXE technique to analyse trace elements in surface water, pore water and sediment samples. The concentration behavior is related to the complex processes that take places along the water column and at the water-sediment interface.
