Abstract
Abstract Chromium is a strategic and critical metal in industrial development. Commercial sources of Cr are limited to relatively few countries and the current and projected demand for the metal is growing. The industrial nations that lack identified economic resources of the metal, yet require it, and the developing nations that need nontraditional strong value exports with established future markets, should explore for chromite mineral deposits, determine their potential, and plan for their development. The metals heavily used in industry such as Cr, Ni, Co, and Mn should be high-priority commodities in the exploration for mineral deposits. The multielement-multisample type strategy in geochemical exploration for chromite, as used in this study, increases the probability of finding mineral deposit targets for detailed studies.
