Abstract
There is increasing emphasis today on preschool experiences in mathematics for children to capitalize on their eagerness to explore and interpret the world around them. This paper explores a wide variety of experiences based upon the use of a geoboard and rubber bands. The geoboard provides many opportunities to acquaint children with geometric concepts. Learning from their own play and from imitation of adults and other children, it is not long before they can recognize, correctly label, and form for themselves many common geometrical figures and instances of geometric properties, as well as such common shapes as letters of the alphabet.
