Abstract

Abstract With the completion of HGP and HapMap, the genome wide association study (GWAS) has become feasible and been proven to be a very useful and efficient approach to identify the susceptibility genes for complex diseases as compared to previous method in terms of linkage study. Psoriasis, vitiligo,SLE and atopic dermatitis are common immune related skin complex diseases with unknown pathogenesis. To identify the susceptibility genes predispoing to these dieases in Chinese Han populations, we carried out a seris GWAS for psoriasis, vitiligo, SLE and atopic dermatitis in Chinese populations and identified many novel genetic factors influencing disease susceiptibilty as well as found the genetic heterogenetity of these complex diseases within different ethinic populations(Nat Genet 2009, 2010). Our reserach should provide novel insights into the disease pathoghensis and lay a solid fundation for further functional research.
