Abstract

Pulsed field gel electrophoresis has greatly increased the resolution and accuracy with which the mammalian genome can be mapped. This technique will become central to many reverse genetic strategies for moving ‘from mutation to gene’, because it b oth complements and extends existing mapping techniques, and potentially allows the isolation of new DNA markers from any genomic region.
