Abstract

Polygenic Risks Scores (PRS) are compiled based on a holistic evaluation of the entire genome. It has been recommended for use in conjunction with IVF, and currently, the technique has been advertised to enable parents to select the “healthiest” embryo. Soon, however, technology will support claims enabling parents to select the smartest, best-looking, or most athletic child. This essay discusses considerations involving in using this technology, from an ethical, moral, social justice, and biologically plausible (truth-in-advertising) perspective.
