Abstract
In order to clarify the anthocyanins of Brassicae, paper-chromatographic survey was carried out using 5 species of Brassicae crops. As to the saponified-anthocyanins, two kinds of pigments were detected such as raphanusin and rubrobrassicin. In all the six species examined, we could find out the varieties containing rubrobrassicin, but the ones containing raphanusin were found only in two species which are used for cultivations for their roots. The origin of the red varieties of turnips was discussed here.
