Genetic Variations in Cell and Tissue Forms in Relation to Plant Growth. : II. Total Cell Surface Area in the Palisade Parenchyma and Total Cell Surface Area : Total Nitrogen Content Ratio in Relation to Photosynthetic Activity in Brassica

Abstract

Structural factors in the palisade parenchyma were investigated in relation to photosynthetic activity. Photosynthetic activity per leaf area was positively correlated with total cell surface area per leaf area and a total leaf areal nitrogen content. Photosynthetic activity per total nitrogen content was positivel y correlated with total cell surface area : total nitrogen content ratio and leaf area : total nitrogen content ratio.
