Abstract

The potential influence from these two polymorphisms on pain erception and analgesic efficacy from opioids is reported in several tudies including patients with chronic pain, postoperative pain, nd cancer pain [2,3]. The two polymorphisms are also shown to ave a potential gene joint effect [4]. The COMT Val158Met polyorphism is also associated with potential opioid adverse effects epresenting genetic dispositions that limit the therapeutic winow for opioid analgesics [5,6]. Still, findings are inconsistent and arge-scale studies or meta-analyses have partly failed to confirm enetic associations [7,8].
