Abstract

Introduction: The argon laser (AL) can be used to cure orthodontic brackets onto teeth in significantly less time than conventional curing lights. Also, it has been shown that the AL seems to impart demineralization resistance to the enamel. The purpose of this study was to use modem surface science techniques to ascertain whether this demineralization resistance is a result of a decrease in the carbonate content of enamel.
