Abstract

Highly connected brain network hubs play a vital role in integrated brain function. They are metabolically costly and implicated as dysfunctional in diverse brain disorders. How do brain hubs emerge? Here, I present converging evidence from heritability, transcriptomic, and modelling analyses to indicate that genes play an important role in shaping the hub architecture of the brain.
