Abstract

A varietal trial of spring rice (Oryza sativa L.) was conducted in the farmer field at Dhamilikuwa, Lamjung, Nepal with an objective to study the genetic divergence for yield and yield related components from March 2017-June 2017. The experiment was carried out in randomized complete block design (RCBD) having eighteen genotypes with three replications. Cluster analysis revealed that eighteen genotypes were grouped into four clusters based on Euclidean distance. Cluster I, II, III and IV consists of 10, 1, 4 and 3 genotypes respectively and inter cluster distance was highest between cluster II and III which revealed wide genetic diversity between genotypes of these two clusters whereas the least between cluster I and III which indicates genotypes are more similar with each other. Therefore, the selection of genotypes could be done from cluster II and III in hybridization program.
