Abstract

OBJECTIVE: Fertility is a complex trait with multiple genetic determinants. However, the genes involved in establishing a woman's oocyte endowment have yet to be uncovered. Specifically, our work aims to determine the associations between common genetic variants and a woman's antral follicle count (AFC). We hypothesize that ovarian aging or follicle loss is largely determined by genetic polymorphisms that impact the initial oocyte endowment and/or the rate of oocyte loss.
