Abstract
Abstract The immune response in guinea pigs against the known sequence polymer, (tyr-glu-ala-gly)n has been studied. Hartley guinea pigs and inbred strain 13 guinea pigs react against the polymer (cellular and humoral responses) but strain 2 guinea pigs do not. Breeding studies have established that the response is controlled by a single dominant gene and that the locus involved is also linked to the major histocompatibility locus of the species.
