Abstract

Abstract The importance of renewal factors mainly in the reliability field is becoming an important subject because of the increasing sophistication of industrial plants. The conventional Weibull distribution have been often used to describe the life times of components and widely applied to characterize the breakdown statistics. Our aim in this paper is to propose optimization methods that allow the approximation of the modified Weibull renewal function. The proposed framework is elaborated based on Laplace transforms and genetic algorithms where the parameters of our model are tuned up by considering two minimization criteria. The obtained results confirm well the good accuracy of the analytical renewal function model when compared to numerical data.
