Abstract
A method is presented for solving the spherical wave expansion (SWE) from far-field amplitude-only data. The idea is to minimize the least-squares difference between the amplitude of the measured field and that of a calculated SWE using a combination of a genetic algorithm (GA) and Newton's method. The uniqueness aspects of the problem are addressed. A measured antenna radiation pattern is analyzed with and without phase data and the results are compared. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
