Abstract
The family business started in the year 1975 with the founder Vikram Kumar engaging into textile trading and subsequently diversifying into coal trading. He further diversified into Kiln manufacturing and expanded this business laterally. Shantanu was his eldest son, retuned to India after serving in USA. There was a split between the non family partner and his father. Shantanu started a new firm with 50 % equity from his family. In 1984 with the help of his younger brother Dhiraj, who is also a graduate Engineer, friend Abhay and Ajay, Shantanu set up a construction firm, Genesis Housing Private Limited that was a forward integration of the kiln business and sold the former business.
