Abstract

vember 2010 A retrospective study to assess the rates of abusive head trauma in patients presenting with an apparent life threatening event (ALTE) was performed at the University of Utah from 1999-2003 by Guenther et al. The results show that 1.4% of ALTE cases were diagnosed with abusive head trauma. A history of a documented 911 call, vomiting, or irritability was significantly associated with abusive head trauma. The possible reasons for these associations are discussed by the authors. Article page 821 <
