Abstract

The paper presents the design of two multipole generators with permanent magnets designed by the author as well as selected results of tests conducted on them. The generators are used in small wind power plants with horizontal axis wind turbines (HAWT) and vertical axis wind turbines (VAWT). Thanks to unique, patented construction of the magnetic circuit, a very small clogging torque was obtained in spite of a big number of rotor poles and straight-teeth stator slots. The paper describes the design of generators, the dependence of voltage on rotational speed at idle, the dependence of voltage on load for the rated speed as well as measurements of the cogging torque. The generators can be used in micro water power plants.
