Abstract

Abstract: This paper discusses the Generator Coherency Analysis (GCA) in large interconnected power systems such as the ENTSO-E continental system. Once reviewed the state of art about the topic and hence analyzed the available investigation approaches, an overview of some European WAMS activities related to the Italian and Swiss case is briefly presented. Then, the GCA computational framework under debate in ENTSO-E community is described and the measurement-based identification algorithms used are introduced. A real contingency recorded in ENTSO-E continental system is analysed by processing off-line WAMS data, in order to extract useful information for ensuring adequate system security margins.
