Abstract
I am delighted to share my last forum as JHR book reviews editor. Organizing these forums has been my favorite part of the work, and I hope that they’ve provided readers with useful insights and generative resources for scholarship and teaching. This final forum features seven rhetorical historians, each of whom completed their doctorate within the past five years, reflecting on the writing that most energizes, galvanizes, and sustains them today. Their stories are personal and scholarly, stock-taking and agenda-setting. Each is different, particular. Taken together, they reveal the ripple effects that any individual text can have as it circulates and is read. Each writer found solace and challenge in their reading. Each took up that solace and challenge in their subsequent work. We now pass them along to you, hoping that you will find resonance with the stories and hope in the generative legacies we each create with our own writing.
