Abstract

It is reported that tunable femtosecond pulses are readily obtained from a cavity-dumped, hybridly mode-locked cw dye laser coupled with only a single-stage optical fiber compressor. The behavior of compressed pulses depends strongly on the input pulse profile, as well as its peak power. Clean and short pulses less than 90 fs are realized by generating the input pulse close to a gaussian shape. The compressed pulses of less than 100 fs duration are also frequency tunable in the range of 597–615 nm.
