Abstract
A method is established for extracting the net energy input to a solar collector as a continuous explicit function of time by processing discrete, instantaneous, direct, and diffuse measurements on a horizontal surface. The dynamics of the energy input are analysed. A computer program is coded to yield the effective input as a polynomial in time. Both the analysis and the program are presented in general form.
