Abstract

A photoionization plasma obtained at a high p re s su re of the ionized medium is of great interest . It may serve as the object for the study of the kinetics of collisions, plasmokinetic react ions, and other p ro cesses which go on in a nonequilibrium medium. Moreover , in a preionized gas a h igh-cur ren t pulse discharge does not contract even at a tmospher ic p res su re but develops in the form of a homogeneous volume discharge. This opens up new possibil i t ies for creat ing lase rs operating in dense media.
