Abstract
It is shown that a high power laser can parametrically generate magnetic electron drift motion in a high density, nonuniform collisional plasma. The nonlinear dispersion relation as well as the growth rates of the decay and modulational instabilities are obtained. Possible application of these results in laser–plasma interaction is discussed.
