Abstract

The problem of collision -free trajectory generation for a manipulator or a mobile robot in the presence of obstacles is considered. It is shown to be equivalent to the problem of moving a point through a subset of Rn. After an analysis of the possible solutions to this last problem, feasible strategies to obtain collision-free trajectories are described. An implementation example demonstrates that this approach allows a general program to deal successfully with several different robots.
