Abstract

A new scheme to develop a continuously tunable coherent XUV source shorter than 70 nm is proposed, in which two-photon resonant four-wave mixing is combined with stimulated Raman scattering. A preliminary experiment of this scheme has been conducted and XUV radiation at 66.2 and 68.1 nm has been generated simultaneously in a hydrogen gas jet by resonant four-wave mixing of an ArF excimer laser beam with its stimulated Raman scattering.
