Abstract

A novel circularly polarized antenna with a conical beam radiation pattern is presented. It consists of a feeding probe and a (1, 6) helical torus knot as a polarizer. Measured results shows that, the antenna has an impedance bandwidth of 19.67% and axial ratio bandwidth of 15.7%. With the RHCP gain of about 6 dBic at 3.5 GHz. Toroidal helical knot antenna is mechanically simple to fabricate using additive manufacturing technology. The proposed prototype is suitable for mounting on vehicles to facilitate communication with geostationary satellites.
